July, 2007 An Aussie Update Well, we made it to Australia! Been here about a month now, living in Cairns. We have jobs and a place to live so the plan is to work and save once again so we will have the money to travel without working when we want to leave. We will go all the way down the East Coast to Sydney, then on to Melbourne and eventually West out to Perth and Broom. From there we will go North to Darwin and after that, straight South in to the middle to see Ayres Rock before we leave. This probably dosen't make alot of sense to you unless you know the layout of Australia... So I will attach a map to the bottom of this blog. April, 2007 Time for a change Hi there. Right now I am at a pretty flash internet cafe in Auckland. It is kinda hard to think here cause it is full of Asians playing internet games and shouting at eachother in forein language! This will probably be quick one...
Sally and I are doing ok. We have been doing the shity, boring part of travel, which is working. I realy think "working-holiday" is an oxy-moron. Anyway, it must be done. So we have a couple of jobs. We are working at a Mushroom Farm as pickers. and also a seed company called Seed Solutions. They grow corn and other vegies for the seed value rather than the harvest value. Its kinda neet because they do all kinds of cross polinating to get better strains rather than geneticly modifying the stuff, which is cool.
We plan to leave soon, as the hours are not great and it is a bit of a mission to get back and forth (half hour drive). The Mushrooms are a bit closer but the hours are very random, and the environment isn't the greatest. So, we have decided to stick out the end of the month and then we are off to Australia, probably Brisbane, to look for better jobs. The weather will no doubt be nicer there as well, as we art quickly heading into winter again here and it is harder and harder to get out of bed in the morning. (So damn chilly!)
Because of work we have been staying in one place which is ok. But I don't have many pictures to share at this point. : ( Its kinda good to be still for a bit. But I am definately feeling the need to move on and see some new horizions. There are amazing beaches in OZ, and I can't wait to try surfing! I am sure to have some more pictures then. The whole change of pace will be good. Things have been the same for too long... February, 2007 On to the north Island Well I havent had much time since the new year to update anything. I was pretty busy with work, and now that that is finished I have been on tho go with Sally. We went up to the very top of the South Island to a place called Farewell Spit. Is is a 23km long sand spit between the North and South Islands. We then went back down to Christchurch so pick up Allison, who flew in from the UK to visit us. On the way we stoped at some amazing places like the Hanmer Springs thermal hot pools. It was really good to relax before strarting our three weeks of crazyness with Ali! We have been all over the S.I. Again! And now we are headed to the North. I hope the weather is a little warmer there.
